What is going on with the Republican base? Do they not get it that they are proving, in public- big time, that they are "discriminating" against African Americans with their loaded suspicions, voter suppression efforts, Palin speeches, robocalls. terrorist ga-ga, and now attacks against Colin Powell? (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27282259#27282259 click for Limbaugh quotes, video)
In America, the Republican right is free to feel prejudice inside, but to verbalize (act upon) those feelings in a public forum is called discrimination. That choice (to discriminate) is un American at its core, disgusting and racist at its heart, against the law according to the Supreme Court. That is exactly what John Lewis was picking up on when he made his referenced comments last week.
It doesn't take a genius to get the message behind Republican robocalls, hateful handouts, the Rick Davis method of discrimination... and now, the Limbaugh-Buchanan-Bachman suggestion that Obama is not a patriot, that Colin Powell based his choice on race? In fact, Sec r Powell was clear as a bell that his problems with McCain were "professional" ; that the Republican party had shifted radically right in this campaign as demonstrated by the Palin choice. Talk about un American.
Unbelievable, knee-jerk racism is coming straight out of the Republican base in a last ditch effort to win at any price, their most transparent behavior in twelve years.
